Puerto Vallarta Tourism

Over the years, Puerto Vallarta has evolved into a popular destination not just for all inclusive family vacations in Mexico but also travelers seeking golf, romance, spa and outdoor adventure on both land and sea. With several vastly different zones appealing to different travelers it’s hard to pinpoint a typical Puerto Vallarta tourist.

Hippy Nayarit meets Luxe Nuevo Vallarta

Bohemian artists flock to the Nayarit state villages of Playa San Pancho and Bucerias on the northern fringes of the bay while sophisticated jet setters, retired expats, and honeymooners congregate in the luxury resorts and developments of Punta de Mita and Nuevo Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is also a gay-friendly destination, with dozens of small hotels catering to gay and lesbian clientele in the Zona Romantica or South Side area of the city.

West Coast connection and local attraction

Due to its proximity to the West Coast United States and convenient direct flights on major airline carriers, Puerto Vallarta is a hotspot for travelers from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. “Snow bird” retirees from the United States and Canada flock to Puerto Vallarta during the winter months, and have prompted a boom in the city’s condominium development market. Puerto Vallarta also attracts many domestic Mexican tourists, with holidays such as Easter and Christmas attracting throngs from Guadalajara and even Mexico City.
